According to various different sources, the first episode of Doctor Who series five will see the 11th Doctor and his companion played by Karen Gillan come face to face with the Daleks. Created by Terry Nation, the Daleks first made their debut appearance in the 1963 story 'The Daleks' and they most recently appeared in the Doctor Who series four finale. An apparent insider from the BBC is quoted as saying the following;
“They know fans will take a while to get used to Matt as the Doctor, so it makes sense to have him fight his most famous enemies. They always bring good ratings.”
Other recent rumours suggest that Doctor Who's upcoming fifth series will be split in two so that the series doesn't air at the same time as the Fifa World Cup next year. The articles suggest that the first half of the series will air in the Spring and that the second half will air in the Autumn which will allow for a mid-series cliffhanger. It should however be noted that these are only rumours at the moment and there has been no official confirmation made by the BBC to state that these rumours are true. More information about the series will be posted on this site as soon as it becomes available. What do you think of these rumours?
