Recent Doctor Who Series Five Rumours

By Mark
According to various different sources, the first episode of Doctor Who series five will see the 11th Doctor and his companion played by Karen Gillan come face to face with the Daleks. Created by Terry Nation, the Daleks first made their debut appearance in the 1963 story 'The Daleks' and they most recently appeared in the Doctor Who series four finale. An apparent insider from the BBC is quoted as saying the following;

“They know fans will take a while to get used to Matt as the Doctor, so it makes sense to have him fight his most famous enemies. They always bring good ratings.”

Other recent rumours suggest that Doctor Who's upcoming fifth series will be split in two so that the series doesn't air at the same time as the Fifa World Cup next year. The articles suggest that the first half of the series will air in the Spring and that the second half will air in the Autumn which will allow for a mid-series cliffhanger. It should however be noted that these are only rumours at the moment and there has been no official confirmation made by the BBC to state that these rumours are true. More information about the series will be posted on this site as soon as it becomes available. What do you think of these rumours?

    Nice post. I hope the Daleks don't return, I think everyone's had enough of them. Maybe we need a break, plus Moffat said he wasn't planning on bringing them back at all. I think everyone will agree, the Daleks may be the main enemy of Doctor Who, but too much is too much, and they're begining to lose their scaryness.

    If the reports are true then I think it is a shame. The Doctor Who team have a new Doctor, new companion (possibly new TARDIS interior) and they are worried that fans will only take to him if his first episode features the Daleks? Excellent writers will always come up with the goods, they certainly do not need to rely solely on Skaro monsters!

    I certainly hope Matt's debut features something new and imaginative. Now that would make him popular!

    The Daleks are amazing and will always be used in Who, but for a while they should take the time to come up with some new monsters or bring back some of the old ones like the Zygons or something.
    Daleks have been too overused and are beginning to lose their scare!

    I personally think we have had too much Dalek activity and agree that some of the other enermies should come back, The Monk? Patrick Stewart)I do feel hesitanht about series 5, new doctro, new companion and new TARDIS interior, it will almost be like a new series just with the same name, time will tell.

    in my point of viewthis idea would ruin everything the dalek and the break between the first half of the series and the second if that is true then why don't they put doctor who off untill 2011 that would be far better and the doctor who production team could get some time off ifi saw setven moffat in the street i would tell him to think twice before he makes dicions like that

Something to say?
