Torchwood Asylum Radio Adventure Details

By Mark
BBC Audio have recently released some information regarding the first of this year’s special Torchwood radio adventures. The story will be titled ‘Asylum’ and it will be written by Anita Sullivan. John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Gareth David Lloyd and Tom Price will all star in the audio adventure as their respective characters; Jack, Gwen, Ianto and PC Andy. The adventure will have an approximate running time of an hour and it will also be released on CD next month. You can view the adventure’s CD cover above and view its synopsis below;

When PC Andy Davidson arrests a young girl for shoplifting, he thinks it’s going to be a routine case. That is, until he sees that she is carrying a gun. The girl is soaking wet, covered in mud, and the weapon is like nothing he’s ever seen before. He knows that this is a case for Torchwood...

The team discovers that the girl is called Freda, but can find out nothing else. Yet when she speaks, it’s a strange mix of English and Icelandic, but with a Cardiff accent. While Jack and Ianto check out the girl’s weapon and her blood sample at the Hub, Gwen and PC Andy take Freda to a safe house. But when Jack calls with the results - and Freda goes on the run - PC Andy finds his world turning upside down.

Written specially for BBC Radio by Anita Sullivan, Asylum stars John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones and Tom Price as PC Andy Davidson.

Asylum will broadcast on BBC Radio Four in a few weeks time but its exact date of transmission is at the moment unknown. The adventure will be set after the events of the Torchwood series two finale and it will air along with two more radio plays in preparation for the programme’s upcoming third series. This year’s other radio adventures for Torchwood are titled; Golden Age and The Dead Line and you can view more information about them here in a previous post. This CD for Asylum is scheduled for release on the eighth of August and it will go on sale at an RRP of £9.77. Will you be buying this when it's released?

    They have a tinny, unpolished quality to them. Kind of like the Doctor Who cartoon did. I can look past it though.

Something to say?
