David Tennant's Extras Sketch

By Mark
As you may have already known, David Tennant appeared in a mini Doctor Who sketch for the Extras Christmas Special on the 27th December. The sketch is just under a minute long and features The Doctor help kill a slug like alien. You can watch the sketch below;

The alien seems to be called "Schlong" , personally I think it's quite a good Doctor Who spoof. It looks like they had fun filming it and seeing as David is a fan of the show I'm sure he enjoyed it.
What do you think of the Extras Sketch?

Billie Piper and Lawrence Fox Marry

By Mark
Tomorrow, New Year's Eve, Billie Piper will marry Lawrence Fox. Billie Piper, actress of Rose Tyler in Doctor Who, announced earlier this month that children weren't allowed to attend the wedding, this is because alcohol will be provided at the wedding which isn't suitable for minors. Lawrence Fox and Billie Piper met when they both starred in a play called "Treats". Congratulations them both and I wish them all the luck for tomorrow and the future of their relationship.

P.S: Don't forget that Billie Piper stars in "The Shadow In The North" as Sally Lockhart tonight at 8:55pm on BBC1.

Dannii Minogue To Appear In Torchwood?

By Mark
According to The Sun, Dannii Minogue has expressed her interest in appearing in Torchwood. Dannii is famous for her successful singing career, not only is she a singer but also an actress, model and fashion designer. On the subject of Dannii appearing in Torchwood, John Barrowman said;

“I’d love it if Dannii appeared in Torchwood. She has an edge and I know she’s a fan of the show.”

Dannii's sister Kylie recently appeared in the Doctor Who Christmas special "Voyage Of The Damned" and I think it would be great if Dannii appeared in Torchwood. Both Kylie Minogue and Dannii Minogue are very talented singers and actresses, Kylie was great in Doctor Who as I'm sure Dannii will be in Torchwood if she gets a part on the show. Would you like Dannii to appear in Torchwood?

Can The Doctor's Companions Save The Day?

By Mark
Picture above was made by me.
According to The Sun, in Doctor Who Series 4 there will an episode where The Doctor is lost in space, this leaving it up to his faithful companions Rose, Martha and Donna to save the day. How will they react with each other, will they be friends or foes? Either way if this story is true they are all going to have to work together as a team to save The Doctor and the world from an alien invasion. This episode is thought to be the Doctor-lite episode of the series, like Blink and Love and Monsters where The Doctor doesn't appear in the episode much. Here is what The Sun have to say;

BBC bosses are so confident in Doctor Who that they are making an episode without him in it. Instead, the Time Lord’s three female assistants – Rose, Martha and Donna – take the starring roles. The shock twist comes after the Doctor, played by David Tennant, gets lost in space. His faithful sidekicks – played by Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate – are left to take control of the Tardis as they battle to save the world from an alien invasion. An insider on the show’s top-secret Cardiff set said: “The chemistry between the three assistants is electric. It is so strong that we realised the doctor could be in danger of getting in the way. “So it is left to the girls to sort things out, having to save civilisation and the Doctor himself.” Former assistants Billie, 25, and Freema, 28, will team up with the Doctor’s new companion Catherine, 39, for the one-off episode towards the end of the next series. It will be screened in March. The insider added: “It is a bit of a gamble having Doctor Who without the Doctor – it has never been done before. But everyone is so interested in the different assistants that it should be fantastic. “Donna, Martha and Rose are all competing for his attention in different ways and all want to be the best. But the question will be, can they work together?” The Beeb are hoping for huge viewing figures for series four after the Christmas Special featuring Kylie Minogue pulled in 12.2million viewers.

This may be why David Tennant said to Newsround recently that even though Billie Piper has been on set, he hasn't filmed any scenes with her yet. He then went on to say that we will understand why when we have watched the series. A clip from Series 4 has also appeared on youtube showing how Rose returns. In the clip Donna is walking down a street on her own, without The Doctor, so maybe this is how Rose and Donna meet in the episode. You can watch the youtube video here, but beware of major spoilers.
Please note that this story hasn't been confirmed and at this moment in time is a rumour. I think it would be a great plotline for an episode and that it would expand Rose's, Martha's and Donna's characters even more. Would you like this story to be true?

John Barrowman "Anything Goes" Cover

By Mark
The cover for John Barrowman's autobiography, Anything Goes, has only just been revealed and can be seen above. Anything Goes will be released by publisher Michael O'Mara Books on the 24th January 2008. An audiobook version of Anything Goes will also be available for purchase from the 4th February next year. Here is a short synopsis for the 256 paged book;

With graduation looming, the school guidance counsellor asked John what he wanted to do with his life. John replied, "I want to go into the arts." The counsellor said "Okay, but what do you want to do to fall back on." John replied, "If I have to have something to fall on, it will have to be my ass.""Anything Goes" traces the life and career of John Barrowman from his Glaswegian childhood and American adolescence to his first big break starring alongside Elaine Paige in "Anything Goes". Since then, John has made a name for himself with unmatched West End achievements, including an Olivier Award nomination, and success in the movies "The Producers" and "De-Lovely". Television success was also assured when Torchwood won a Best Drama BAFTA. John also lays bare his personal life: his emigration as a child, coming out to his family, turning down a job at Disney and his 2006 civil partnership with long-term partner Scott Gill. "Anything Goes" is revelatory and insightful, told with real heart and characteristic Barrowman charm. This is a wonderful tale of how one boy achieved his dreams.

Despite not being released for another month, John's autobiography has already made it to number 531 in the best selling books chart which is very high for a book not even on sale yet. You can pre-order John Barrowman Anything Goes: The Autobiography at many books stores or online stores now. I can't wait for John's autobiography to be released, I will be getting it on the date of release and that hope John can go on a book signing event in Manchester and many other places. Will you be buying John Barrowman Anything Goes: The Autobiography?

Doctor Who Series 4 Trailer Analysis

By Mark
In the Doctor Who Series 4 trailer there are some interesting perhaps revealing clips, did you notice any? To start with we see a short clip of the character that appeared in Voyage of the Damned played by Bernard Cribbins, this confirming the rumours of his return for the fourth series of Doctor Who. Red robed monsters also feature in the trailer, they appear to look like they have rock structured skin. In my opinion these are most likely to be the “Rock Monsters” in the Pompeii episode mentioned by Russell T Davies in a recent interview. At the beginning of the trailer there is a clip where the Ood have red eyes, does this mean they have been possessed or become evil again? A smartly dressed woman who has a sonic device much like the sonic screwdriver also appears in the trailer; maybe she’s a Timelady, maybe the Rani? On the other hand she could be Miss Foster, announced to appear in Doctor Who series 4 episode 1 “Partners In Crime”. What do you think? We also see clips of the Sontarans, killer bees and UNIT in the trailer.
Have you spotted anything else interesting in the trailer?

It's Time For Trailers

By Mark
The Doctor Who Christmas Special, Voyage Of The Damned, managed to attract at it's peak 13.8 million viewers with a 55% of the audience share. In my opinion Voyage Of The Dammned was amazing and is one of my favourite Doctor Who episodes to date. In the words of Kylie Mingoue's latest song I'd say "Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow" about Voyage Of The Damned. After Voyage Of The Damned we saw and exciting Doctor Who Series 4 "coming soon" trailer followed by a new Torchwood Series two trailer, both of which can be viewed below;

Both trailers are owned by the BBC.

I can't wait for Doctor Who Series 4 and Torchwood Series 2 they both look amazing. In the Doctor Who Series 4 trailer we see some new clips of; Killer Bees, Martha Jones, UNIT, Red robed enemies and much more. Screencaps of the Doctor Who Series 4 trailer will either be uploaded sometime this week.

David Tennant On Top Gear

By Mark
Swapping his keys of the Tardis to keys of a reasonably priced car, David Tennant will appear on Top Gear tonight. It's the last of this series of Top Gear and David will be the "Star in the reasonably priced car". Christopher Eccleston, The 9th Doctor, and Billie Piper, Rose Tyler, have previously appeared on the show hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. The big question is will David beat Christopher's or Billie's time around the track?
Only time will tell, make sure you don't miss David on Top Gear tonight at 8pm on BBC2. I will be watching.

Torchwood Novels For 2008

By Mark
Three new Torchwood novels will be released next March to coincide with Torchwood Series Two airing on our television screens. The books; Something In The Water, Trace Memory and The Twilight Streets all have 256 pages and will be published by BBC Books. Here are the synopses for each of the different novels;

Dr Bob Strong's GP surgery has been treating a lot of coughs and colds recently, far more than is normal for the time of year. Bob thinks there's something up but he can't think what. He seems to have caught it himself, whatever it is - he's starting to cough badly and there are flecks of blood in his hanky. Saskia Harden has been found on a number of occasions submerged in ponds or canals but alive and seemingly none the worse for wear. Saskia is not on any files, except in the medical records at Dr Strong's GP practice. But Torchwood's priorities lie elsewhere: investigating ghostly apparitions in South Wales, they have found a dead body. It's old and in an advanced state of decay. And it is still able to talk. And what it is saying is 'Water hag'...It features Captain Jack Harkness as played by John Barrowman, with Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper, Toshiko Sato and Ianto Jones as played by Eve Myles, Burn Gorman, Naoki Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd, in the hit series created by Russell T Davies for BBC Television.

Tiger Bay, Cardiff, 1950: A mysterious crate is brought into the docks on a Scandinavian cargo ship. Its destination: the Torchwood Institute. As the crate is offloaded by a group of local dockers, it explodes, killing all but one of them, a young Butetown lad called Michael Bellini. Fifty-eight years later, a radioactive source somewhere inside the Hub leads Torchwood to discover the same Michael Bellini, still young and dressed in his 1950s clothes, cowering in the vaults.They soon realise that each has encountered Michael before - as a child in Osaka, as a junior doctor, as a young police constable, as a new recruit to Torchwood One. But it's Jack who remembers him best of all. Michael's involuntary time-travelling has something to do with a radiation-charged relic held inside the crate. And the Men in Bowler Hats are coming to get it back. Featuring Captain Jack Harkness as played by John Barrowman, with Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper, Toshiko Sato and Ianto Jones as played by Eve Myles, Burn Gorman, Naoki Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd, in the hit series created by Russell T Davies for BBC Television.

There's a part of the city that no one much goes to, a collection of rundown old houses and gloomy streets. No one stays there long, and no one can explain why - something's not quite right there. Now the Council is renovating the district, and a new company is overseeing the work. There will be street parties and events to show off the newly gentrified neighbourhood: clowns and face-painters for the kids, magicians for the adults - the street entertainers of Cardiff, out in force. None of this is Torchwood's problem. Until Toshiko recognises the sponsor of the street parties: Bilis Manger.Now there is something for Torchwood to investigate. But Captain Jack Harkness has never been able to get into the area; it makes him physically ill to go near it. Without Jack's help, Torchwood must face the darker side of urban Cardiff alone...Featuring Captain Jack Harkness as played by John Barrowman, with Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper, Toshiko Sato and Ianto Jones as played by Eve Myles, Burn Gorman, Naoki Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd, in the hit series created by Russell T Davies for BBC Television.

Each book will average at around the price of £6.99 and the exact date of release at this moment in time is the 6th March 2008. Something In The Water is wrote by Trevor Baxendale, Trace Memory is wrote by David Llewellyn and The Twilight Streets is wrote by Gary Russell. I will be buying all of these Torchwood books, they look amazing.
Will you buying these Torchwood books?

"Titanic, Who Thought Of The Name?"

By Mark
Yesterday's door in the Doctor Who Adventure Calendar, door number 21, contained a new Voyage Of The Damned trailer. This trailer has been appearing on BBC1 and BBC2 over the past few days. Containing more exciting clips from the voyage, the trailer can be watched here or below;

This is the first trailer in which we hear one of the Hosts speak and for their first line that we've heard to be "Information, you're all going to die" they certainly seem menacing. The big question is what's behind that golden angel mask?

Disc Drive and Laura Crane Trust Appeals

By Mark
David Tennant and Catherine Tate have both been helping out raise money for the charity Laura Crane Trust, David has also helped out for the Blue Peter appeal "Disc Drive". To start with David and Catherine have both filmed a very funny scene in order to raise money for the Laura Crane Trust, you can watch the scene below;

You can find out how to donate money to the Laura Crane Trust here.
Blue Peter are also running an appeal at the moment for unwanted DVDs, CDs, video games to be sent to them. This will help Barnardo's raise money to support young carers across the country, here is David showing his support to Disc Drive;

Apparently the Disc Drive appeal was filmed on the set of Doctor Who Series 4 so props/objects behind David may be a clue to what will appear in a future episode. I think that both Catherine and David were humorous in the appeals. If you donate your money/discs will go to very good causes, so why not donate now?
What do you think of the video appeals?

Captain Jack Harkness will return in an exciting new series of adventures in January next year. The length of the new Torchwood series two trailer is one minute long, the trailer was first seen yesterday and features clips of the Torchwood team, new monsters and much more. You can watch the trailer below;

About twenty seconds into the trailer we see a short clip of a Weevil followed by a fluttering insect type monster. This means that the Weevil will be returning in series two however they may only have a small role in the episode and not be the main enemies.

Lucky In Love

By Mark
Last night at the London Science Museum, Voyage Of The Damned was shown for the first time in front of a large audience. The press attended the Voyage Of The Damned screening so as you can imagine Doctor Who is heavily covered in today's news, most papers and websites have reported on David Tennant's on screen kiss with Kylie Minogue. At the press launch David Tennant managed to talk to BBC News, he spoke about the recent "leaving" rumours;

"Catherine Tate stitched me up good and proper. I started getting all these phone calls on Saturday lunchtime saying apparently you're leaving Doctor Who,Catherine Tate's just announced it on Radio 2 - thanks Catherine! I said to her on Monday morning did you know you've caused a minor diplomatic incident? She was completely oblivious that the phone had been ringing off the hook. I'm doing four more specials and beyond that no one's asked me to make any decisions and I'm quite happy to be enigmatic for as long as possible,"

It's great to hear that there is still a chance of David playing The Doctor in series 5, I would love him to appear in Doctor Who as long as he feels is right for him. He's my favourite Doctor and a great actor. If you want to stay away from Voyage Of The Damned spoilers you may want to know that some news broadcasts and papers may reveal some heavy plot spoilers in upcoming days.
In other news festive features have been added to the Doctor Who Comic Maker for door number 18 of the Doctor Who Adventure Calendar and an interview with Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner and Phil Collinson has been added for door number 19. Also an exciting new Torchwood series two trailer is now available to watch here, more news on the new Torchwood trailer will be posted tomorrow.

2008 Is When Everything Changes

By Mark
As some of you Torchwood fans may already know a few days ago there was a new Torchwood press release uploaded onto the BBC Press Office website. The release talks about episode one of the second series, "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" and about Torchwood's TV schedule next year. You can read the press release below;

The second series of Torchwood, the award-winning drama created by Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, premières on BBC Two. This time it's bigger and bolder, with more fun, adventure and excitement for the alien-fighting team.
John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen, Burn Gorman as Owen, Naoko Mori as Toshiko and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto return as the investigators delving into the alien underworld of modern-day Cardiff.
In the first episode of the series, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, by co-producer and lead writer Chris Chibnall, Captain Jack is reunited with the Torchwood team as they face a rogue Time Agent. The mysterious Captain John Hart, played by James Marsters (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), is determined to wreak havoc, and needs to find something hidden on Earth. But with Gwen's life in danger, and cluster bombs scattered across the city, whose side is Jack on?
During the 13-part series, Torchwood's investigations into alien activity give the team glimpses of the 51st century and the First World War. In future episodes they encounter alien sleeper cells; save a stranded creature from human exploitation; meet a tragic soldier from the First World War; and encounter a memory thief who exposes long-forgotten secrets among the entire team.
Later in the run, Alan Dale (Ugly Betty, The O.C.) makes a star appearance. Another familiar face among the special guest stars is Doctor Who's companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), who appears half way through the series. Richard Briers, Nerys Hughes and Ruth Jones (Gavin And Stacey) also appear in various roles.
There is a specially edited pre-watershed repeat of Torchwood on BBC Two later in the week.
Following on from that, Torchwood Declassified goes exclusively backstage to reveal the secrets behind some of the first episode's sensational stunt sequences and talks to John Barrowman, James Marsters and Russell T Davies.

In other Torchwood news, the BBC Torchwood website has now been updated with new videos, a new layout, new promotional pictures and much more. You can visit the BBC Torchwood website here. The date is not yet confirmed as of to when Torchwood Series 2 will begin but it is rumoured that it will start on the 16th January 2008.

Tate and Tennant's Future

By Mark
Catherine Tate recently appeared on Jonathan Ross' BBC Radio 2 show, in the interview when asked whether she would be back for the 2009 specials or Doctor Who Series 5 she confirmed that she wouldn't, and that series four will be her last series.
We first saw Catherine Tate in the Doctor Who Christmas Special last year, The Runaway Bride, where we she, Donna Noble, and The Doctor saved the world from the terrifying Empress Of The Racnoss. I'm sure Donna will be a great companion in series four and I can't wait to see her adventures on screen next year.
Later on in the interview, talking about Doctor Who Series 5, Catherine commented about David Tennant's future on the show;
"I think it's maybe David's last series."
Various websites/papers have picked up on this news reporting that David Tennant will be leaving Doctor Who however that is not true, Catherine Tate only said that she thinks it will be his last series. All that we can say for certain is that David Tennant will be in Doctor Who Series 4 and the Doctor Who specials in 2009.
In other news yesterday's Adventure calendar treat was a shorter version of the cinema trailer for Voyage Of The Damned which you can view here. Another trailer was also uploaded onto the site featuring a short flirtatious conversation between The Doctor and Astrid, you can see that trailer here. Behind today's Adventure calendar door is a new game called Dalek Break-out which you can play here.
What do you think of Catherine Tate leaving after one series and a Christmas special?
How long do you want David Tennant to stay as The Doctor?

Rock Monsters In Pompeii?

By Mark
Picture above was made by me.
In a recent interview with New Statesman, Russell T Davies discussed everything from his personal life to working on Doctor Who, you can read the full interview here. In the interview Russell said the following about Doctor Who;

"Doctor Who is terrifying because it's so visible. We have eight million viewers. We can't get away with making a bad episode. But it's also the best job in the world. I control the mothership. I say: 'I want Pompeii, with rock monsters!' How great is that?"

Does this mean that The Doctor and Donna will encounter rock monsters in Pompeii? If so not only will The Doctor, Donna and the residents of Pompeii have a volcano to worry about but a threatening race of rock monsters too. Please note that it isn't yet confirmed that rock monsters will definitely feature in the episode.

The year in which The Master reigned was referred to as "The Year That Never Was" by Captain Jack in the Doctor Who Series 3 finale, so if that is the title maybe we may see the year that Martha travelled the world telling people of "The Doctor". We will just have to wait and see which episode titles it is, it may or may not be any of the above.
What do you think of the episode titles?

With a new look and many exciting features, the 390th issue of Doctor Who Magazine went on sale today. Kylie Minogue, star of Voyage Of The Damned, features on the front cover with one of The Doctor's greatest enemies, The Daleks. This issue is bigger on the inside, containing an interview with David Tennant, a preview of Voyage Of The Damned, all the latest news and even a free double sided poster. Here is what the BBC Doctor Who Site has to say;
Kylie's heavy metal encounter in revamped DWM.
Kylie Minogue has teamed up with Skaro's finest for an exclusive Doctor Who Magazine photoshoot to promote their relaunch issue.
Posing with one of Doctor Who's most enduring icons, Kylie told DWM, "I was in the presence of a legend! I've had to gracefully accept second billing, though. Well, at least I'm younger! The Dalek was in great condition, and bigger than I expected. At least I've met one now, as I didn't in the Christmas issue..."
Kylie also chatted about her role in the Doctor Who Christmas Special Voyage Of The Damned: "My first day on set was like stepping back in time. I really felt at home being back in the world of TV. I've definitely got the acting bug again!"
Also in the bigger, new-look DWM, there's an exclusive preview of Voyage of the Damned; David Tennant is quizzed by readers; Pompeii scriptwriter James Moran reveals what to expect in his new episode; Russell T Davies counts down to Christmas (and reveals some episode titles!) in Production Notes and we discover Who on Earth is Bernard Cribbins.
There's also a double-sided giant poster featuring Kylie and a Dalek.
DWM 390 is available from 13 December 2007 priced £3.99.

The magazine reveals some new episode titles for Doctor Who series four and Torchwood series two which I will post at the weekend. Doctor Who Into The Vortex

By Mark
Doctor Who Into The Vortex, made by "Fish In A Bottle", is an exciting new game on the BBC Doctor Who Site. The aim of the game is to travel in the Tardis through time and space until you reach the rift in Cardiff so that the Tardis can be refueled. The Tardis is damaged and is losing energy, you need to collect blue/green energy particles to temporarily refuel the Tardis but make sure that you avoid the red energy particles as they will disrupt the Tardis fuel cells. You can play this game by opening door number 12 on the Doctor Who Adventure Calendar or by clicking here.
In other news The Sarah Jane Adventures have now taken the top two places in the most watched episodes on the CBBC Channel since its launch, The Lost Boy part two taking first place and Whatever Happened To Sarah Jane? part two taking second place. Also The Sarah Jane Adventures is likely to have a second series after a press release stating that Piers Wenger will take over Julie Gardner's role as executive producer for Doctor Who's fifth series. The press release went on to say that Julie Gardner will still be working on Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, this implying there will be a second series of the show. More will be posted on Piers Wenger taking over from Julie Gardner as executive producer for Doctor Who Series 5 soon.
How far did you fly the Tardis?

IDW's Doctor Who Comic

By Mark
The Doctor and Martha will soon feature in a six issued comic book series. Unfortunately fans not in USA will not be able to buy the comics as they are American exclusives, it's a shame as I and I'm sure many other fans really want to buy them. The first issue of the comic is released in January and the second in February, the Doctor Who Comic will be a monthly release. In a recent interview, Gary Russell revealed some more exciting information on the comics;

When Gary was asked if writing for a comic allows your imagination to go wild as there are no special effect budgets, he said;

“A huge space station with a bar full of aliens; a massive skyscraper exploding; a thirty foot tall cat rampaging through 1970s London, knocking buses flying’ entire races of planets disappearing in a flash; People made of sand,” he replied, a yes implied. “I don’t think you could achieve all that on a TV budget very convincingly. The idea is to use the comics to tell stories that TV can’t do. And also to build, to seed themes, concepts and characters that again episodic TV doesn’t always allow for.”

Gary also went on to reveal that a Sycorax Warrior would appear in one of the comics as well as some of the Catkind. When asked about the bad guys in the comics, Gary said;

“There’s a businessman called Wain you’ll see occasionally,” Russell said. “He’s from the far, far future but seems to nip around other times and places via a strange limbo dimension he seems comfortable in. There’s a Pantheon of alien - not gods as such - but big scary guys. There’s a weird scientist whose bitten off more than he can chew. And a couple of aliens from the TV show, including a Sycorax warrior and some Catkind. I like the Catkind. They may crop up more than once.”

You can read the full interview with Gary Russell and Nick Roche here. These novels are certainly going to be exciting, I'm hoping that they will be published at a later date in other areas of the world, for example here in the UK.
