Russell Tovey Digital Spy Interview

By Mark
Russell Tovey, who played Midshipman Frame in the Doctor Who Christmas special 'Voyage of the Damned, has recently revealed his feelings regarding the casting of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor. Russell was actually one of the favourites to become the 11th Doctor at the time of speculation and commented on Matt's casting in a recent interview with Digital Spy. You can view this quote from the interview below;

"Matt Smith is awesome. He's a fantastic actor. I'm a big fan of his. I think he'll be brilliant. Matt's probably worried, of course, but he'll have a different take on it. The joy of the Doctor's part is that he's everyman, he can be anybody so whoever comes in can put their own stamp on it."

Matt Smith will play the role of The Doctor for the fifth series of Doctor Who next year and his companion will be played by Karen Gillan. Steven Moffat will be the head writer of the show for it's fifth series and you can view more information about the production crew for series five here in a previous post. Before all of that, there are still three more specials due for transmission starring David Tennant as the 10th Doctor to and they will air towards the end of this year. More information will be posted as soon as it becomes publicly available.
