It was uploaded onto the magazine's official Facebook page earlier this week by Tom Spilsbury and it features a picture of Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane on the front cover. This special issue will contain over one hundred pages and feature a new exclusive interview with Elisabeth Sladen, behind the scenes reports from the set of The Sarah Jane Adventures plus detailed episode guides for the programme's first two series. It will be released in all good newsagents across the United Kingdom and Ireland tomorrow, on the first of October, and it will go on sale at the price of £5.99. The BBC have recently released three new promotional pictures for 'The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith' which will be the third story in the upcoming third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. All three of the pictures feature David Tennant who will be making an appearance as the 10th Doctor in the episodes and synopses for each part of the story have also now been released. The BBC have recently released the official synopses for both parts of Prisoner of the Judoon, the first story of The Sarah Jane Adventures series three and they are both now available to view on the BBC Press Office's official website. 2 Entertain have recently released some details about their upcoming Torchwood: The Collection box set and the cover for the collection has also now been revealed. The box set will contain a total of fourteen discs which will feature every episode of the show from its first, second and third series. Starting from 'Everything Changes' and ending with 'Day Five', the set will contain all thirty one episodes of the programme and it's likely that there will be many special features on the discs to accompany the episodes. At the moment, it hasn't been confirmed whether or not the set will feature bonus material but more details will be posted as soon as they become available. Today, the twenty second of September, is Billie Piper's twenty seventh birthday and I would like to take this time to wish her a very happy birthday and the best for the future. Billie played the role of Rose Tyler in the first, second and fourth series of Doctor Who and she is also well known for her acting roles in programmes such as; Secret Diary of a Call Girl and the Sally Lockhart Mysteries. Billie released an autobiography titled 'Growing Pains' in 2006 and she will star in the upcoming third series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl which is scheduled for transmission on ITV2 later this year. John Barrowman's second autobiography, I Am What I Am, has today been released and it is now on sale in all good book stores at an RRP of £19.99. This book contains a total of two hundred and fifty six pages and it follows on from John's first autobiography which was titled 'Anything Goes'. Like with his first book, this autobiography has also been co-written by Carole E Barrowman who is John's sister and professor of English. Panini, the publishers of Doctor Who Magazine, have recently revealed that they will be releasing a new Doctor Who trading card game next month which will be titled 'Alien Armies'. Sets of the cards will go on sale on the first of October and there will be two hundred and sixty individual cards to collect in total. Booster packs, consisting of six cards, will be released at the price of 50p each and a starter pack for the trading card game will go on sale for the price of £4.99. The next issue of Doctor Who Magazine and further issues of Doctor Who Adventures will come with free packets of these cards and you can view more information about other Aliens Armies merchandise which will go on sale soon here. The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, issue number four hundred and thirteen, has revealed that the third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will premiere in the United Kingdom and Ireland next month on the fifteenth of October. New episodes of the series will transmit twice a week on BBC One and the first part of each story will air on Thursday afternoons. The second part of each story will then be shown the following day on Friday afternoons and each part will have an approximate running time of twenty five minutes. This new transmission pattern means that viewers without digital television won't have to wait an extra week to see all of the latest episodes as they will now premiere on BBC One rather than the CBBC channel. Georgia Moffett, who is well known for her role as Jenny in the fourth series of Doctor Who, starred in last night's episode of Casualty and she will once again star in the programme tonight. Tonight's episode will air at 8pm on BBC One and it will be the second part of the story which began last night. The nominations for this year's National Television Awards have recently been revealed and we now know that there are two Doctor Who related nominations and three Torchwood related nominations this year. Doctor Who and Torchwood have both been nominated in the category for 'Best Drama' and they will compete against many other shows including; Spooks, Merlin, Heroes and Primeval. David Tennant, John Barrowman and Eve Myles have all received nominations for this year's 'Best Drama Performance' award and they are nominated alongside; Freema Agyeman, Colin Morgan, Alex Kingston and Bradley Walsh who have all appeared in episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood or The Sarah Jane Adventures as well. Freema, Colin, Alex and Bradley have however been nominated for their roles in other programmes as different characters. The award ceremony will take place in January next year and it will be hosted at the 02 Arena in London. You can submit your votes here online and voting will close on the thirtieth of September. 'The Boat That Rocked' is the title of Richard's most recent movie and at the moment, he is working on a film that is called 'Lost for Words'. Richard's other television and movie credentials include; Love Actually, Notting Hill, Mr Bean's Holiday and The Vicar of Dibley. You can view more information about Richard and his work here. Apart from Steven Moffat who will be the head writer for the series, it is currently unknown who else will be writing episodes of Doctor Who series five. The fifth series of Doctor Who will air next year and it will see Matt Smith take on the role of the 11th Doctor. Park Entertainment have recently released a new promotional poster for K9, the upcoming series, and it can now be viewed on their official website. The poster features images of the newly designed K9, some monsters and the main cast who will help K9 when it comes to saving the world. Starkey, Jorjie and Darius are the names of the main characters and they will be played by; Keegan Joyce, Philippa Coulthard and Daniel Webber. This series is expected to premiere in Australia and the United Kingdom later this year but this isn't confirmed and it may not begin broadcasting until 2010. BBC Audio have recently revealed the cover for The Day of the Troll, the fifth new series Doctor Who audio adventure, and it can now been seen on this site above thanks to Doctor Who Online. Written by Simon Messingham, the story will see The Doctor land on Earth in the far future where he will investigate the mysterious disappearances of many people. The adventure will be narrated by David Tennant and it will be released on CD on the eighth of October. It will go on sale at an RRP of £9.99 and more details about the audio adventure, including its official synopsis, can be found here in a previous post. The Day of the Troll will follow on from the previous four stories which are currently on sale and are titled; Pest Control, The Forever Trap, The Nemonite Invasion and The Rising Night. Like with this audio story, David Tennant is the narrator of Pest Control and the other adventures are narrated by Catherine Tate and Michelle Ryan. Today, the fourth of September, is Kai Owen's thirty fourth birthday and I would like to take this time to wish him a very happy birthday and the best for the future. Kai plays the role of Rhys Williams, Gwen's husband, in Torchwood and he is also well known for his acting roles on stage and in programmes such as; Rocket Man and Casualty. Since his first appearance in Torchwood, Kai has attended many conventions and he has also ran many marathons for various different charities. Quick Reads have recently released some information about their upcoming Doctor Who novel for next year and the cover for the publication has now been revealed. The book will be titled 'Code of the Krillitanes' and it will be written by Justin Richards. It will see The Doctor come face to face with the Krillitanes once again and you can view an image of this book's cover above. Make sure you don't forget that the third of this year's special 'Doctor Who's Greatest Moments' documentaries will air tonight at 8pm on BBC Three. It will be the third and final in its series and tonight's episode will take a look at The Doctor's many enemies. Each episode of the series has celebrated an aspect of Doctor Who by reliving its greatest moments since the show's revival in 2005. Many new interviews with the programme's cast and crew feature on the documentaries and you can view a preview clip from tonight's episode below;
The first episode of this series aired on the twentieth of August and it took a look at both the ninth and tenth incarnations of The Doctor. Following on from the first episode, the second episode aired last week and that looked at The Doctor's many companions. Like with the first two episodes of the series, tonight's episode will air on BBC Three at 8pm and it will have an approximate running time of sixty minutes. The next episode of Doctor Who, The Waters of Mars, will air this November and more details will be posted as soon as they become available. It has recently been revealed that the third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will premiere in the United Kingdom this October. This confirmation was made by one of the CBBC channel's presenters during the recent day of repeats for the programme's first series. Before this announcement, it was speculated that the series would start later this month as the show's first two series both began in September when they premiered. The Sarah Jane Adventures series three will consist of six stories and you can view their titles here in a previous post. Each story will be told in two parts and each part will have an approximate running time of twenty five minutes. According to Digital Spy, the third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will begin on the fifteenth of October but this hasn't yet been confirmed. Today, the first of September, is Burn Gorman's thirty fifth birthday and I would like to take this time to wish him a very happy birthday and the best for the future. Burn played the role of Owen Harper in the first two series of Torchwood and he is also well known for his acting roles in many other programmes and films such as; Bleak House, Layer Cake, The Oxford Murders and Bonekickers. He also recently appeared in the TV adaptation of 'Wuthering Heights' and is currently starring in the West End production of the famous play 'Oliver'. The story's synopsis has now been released but the adventure's CD cover hasn't yet been revealed. When the Doctor arrives on Earth in the far future, he is horrified to find the planet beset by famine and starvation. England is a barren wasteland, and scientists are desperately seeding the ground to make the crops grow again. But now it seems that something even worse is happening. Karl Baring, the owner of research facility The Grange, has been snatched away in the middle of the night. His sister Katy was with him when he vanished, but is now in catatonic shock - so it is up to the Doctor, with the help of the scientists at The Grange, to investigate. What is lurking under the old bridge, and why is it preying on people? The Doctor must find out, before it strikes again...
