The final ratings for The Next Doctor, last year's Doctor Who Christmas special, have recently been released by BARB and we now know that the episode was watched by a total of 13.1 million people. These ratings are significantly higher than the overnight figures it received which said that the episode was watched by 11.7 million people. The Next Doctor was the second most watched programme of week it aired and the fifth most watched programme in the whole 2008. It was also the highest rated programme last year.
