Doctor Who Planet of the Dead

By Mark
The picture above was made by me.
After The Next Doctor aired last night, the title for the next episode of Doctor Who was revealed as part of the credits. The name of the next special is Planet of the Dead and the episode itself has been written by both Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts. It is expected to air around Easter and filming for the episode will begin on the nineteenth of January next year. The episode will feature two characters called Malcolm and Christina and U.N.I.T will also be making an appearance. Rumours also suggest that parts of the episode will be filmed abroad in Tunisia. More information about this episode will be posted as and when it becomes available. What do you think of the title for the first of next year's specials?

I think planet of the dead will feature the ood come from a planet and they may all be dead. I hope the Ood are not dead. That would be sad.

Hiya Toys, welcome to the site, the episode could involve the Ood but I do hope they aren't dead. A lot of people are speculating the involvement of Gallifrey, Skaro and the Daleks as the title is very similar to the Dalek story "The Dead Planet".

It sounds too much like Forest of the Dead for my liking but I am looking forward to the specials.

    no more daleks!

Hiya everyone, thanks for your comments and welcome to the site Sean, Anonymous, Mariah, Anonymous and Owner: Firedemon7 :)

Planet of the Dead.... Post Apocalyptic Earth? Nope... Gallifrey, it would have to be Gallifrey to have some sort of significance to The Doctor. With the rifts that have been blasted between dimensions, they could very easily story line the Doctor's home world re-appearing.
  10. Anonymous 29 December 2008 at 04:40
    MORE CYBERMEN + DALEKS :)

it would be cool if they made a spoof showing what happened in the void, explaining everything
  11. Anonymous 29 December 2008 at 08:02
I have no clue as to what notorious "baddie" will be in the episode, but the title is certainly scintillating. Contrary to Owner: firedemon7, however, I do hope to see much more of the daleks in the future; the series 4 finale has me a bit worried for their future. Either way - can't wait!
  12. Anonymous 29 December 2008 at 15:51
I'd love to see the Gallifrey idea hitting the screens... but wonder if that would then spoil the mystery of it for us?!?! MAYBE... he'll find a destroyed Gallifrey with hologramic messages, like we've seen of the doctor!! Also I'm desperate for georgie Moffat to make a come back as the Doctor's daughter!!
  13. dandaman 29 December 2008 at 16:39
i think that the gelth {a monster encountered by the 9th doctor} will return in the planet of the dead.
  14. Conor 29 December 2008 at 21:49
Wow really nice image there, its fantastic. That episode title is simple but its still sounds really good. I cant wait for this special to air. :)
  15. Anonymous 30 December 2008 at 04:52
I for one want to see more Face of Boe. Last we actualy saw him he was dieing. So maybe theres a small hope for him to return. More likley it will be one of the big Baddies like the Sliveen, or Daleks ( though I think there finaly all dead lol) or even the Manikin guys. They where big for a while and they are not really alive. Nontheless I am sure it will be a exelent production.

P.S. Any one want to see a spin off of Doceter Who from Rose Tylers world. I think it should be put into the idea board and be called Pete's World (Rose's Father)
  16. Anonymous 1 January 2009 at 00:39
Daleks wont defonately be in that docto who special
it would be too soon if they do come bak
and i cant wait for this, i want something different like the gallifrey idea and want the dontors daughter to come bak too >.<
  17. Anonymous 1 January 2009 at 17:14
any one else think it could be revisting his past doctor forms, to be shown all of them in the xmas special just gone, kind of lends a hand to them having another appearence in one of the specials
  18. Anonymous 3 January 2009 at 00:40
I am hoping the creature from 'Midnight' will make a comeback...that would make a good episode.
  19. Anonymous 3 January 2009 at 06:26
Davies announced that it may feature the Nimon and the Zarbi which are both quite good at killing things fast so that might have something to do with it.
  20. Anonymous 3 January 2009 at 06:26
dude doctor fighting vamps would be awesome! but seeing the doctors history in gallifrey would be cool too.
  21. Anonymous 3 January 2009 at 18:27
I Think it would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool if we saw Gallifrey and the Jenny (Doctor's Daughter) .slaughtered all the Daleks. The 11th Doctor is Matt Smith
  22. Leon 4 January 2009 at 15:40
I hope that the Doctors home planet Gallifrey returns with the Daleks??????????
  23. Anonymous 5 January 2009 at 02:12
i want to see more vasta narada they were awesome

P.S i don't want tennant to lave Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  24. Anonymous 5 January 2009 at 03:21
i think a spinoff following rose and the half-human clone of the doctor would be brilliant. i also like the idea of gallifrey being in it.
  25. Anonymous 5 January 2009 at 16:20
    SAD FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=(

    DAVID TENNANT CANT LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!

    NEVER!!!!NEVER!!!!!!NNNNNEEEEEEVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I needed that.Anyway I think it won't have Jenny Daleks or Cybermen and, although I like the idea,I'm a bit skeptical about Gallifrey making an appearance.

    Doctor John Smith

Apparently there was an episode back in '63 with the title "The Dead Planet" which I believe is too much of a coincidence. I don't know very much about this episode but I believe that it was set in the future and had darleks. I only read the synopsis on TV.com but I believe that it was set on earth because they couldn't seem to verify their position and the only planet that the viewers knew back then was earth. I figure at the end of the episode the doctor figured this out and ran away. So I think that it will be set on that planet with the woman from "the library of the dead" who has to make alot of appearances before they switch the doctor. I think now the doctor will return to this dead futuristic earth and find what's her face and fight the darleks.

Of course this is all just stippulation and I know jack.

Another thing I would like to add is my disaproval of the doctor using weapons in the Christmas special, which was completely against many of his fundamental characteristics.

    Thanks for not falling asleep
  27. Mark 6 January 2009 at 19:58
Hiya everyone, thank's again for your comments. There's some very interesting ideas, we'll just have to wait and see what the episode is about lol, it's going to be exciting and it's great speculating :D Welcome to the site; Devient - USA Fan, Anonymous, Ender, Anonymous, Dandaman, Anonymous, Anonymous, Anonymous, Heather, Anonymous, Anonymous, Anonymous, Leon, Anonymous, Anonymous, Anonymous and Sin 666 Jab 06 :D

The Title, seems very exciting, I really look forward to it. BTW, I REALLY REALLY like the site very much, thanks.
  29. Anonymous 7 January 2009 at 15:47
I think that it will contain something like the Sea Devils or something and the Doctor will lose his TARDIS and have no companion. I think it will be something to do with Earth on the verge of death and the Doctor teams up with UNIT to try and prevent it.
  30. Anonymous 8 January 2009 at 12:07
    WARNING: SPOILER:
The master (who regenerated and escaped before his body was burned) has joined forces with the daleks, cybermen and a host of other baddies, and will lure the doctor into a trap where they will seek to entomb him in a temporal stasis container with a recursive even horizon along with all of his Gallifreyan chums (who have been there since the time war). Only by joining forces with his previous and future regeneration, and getting help from several of his past assistants (especially Sarah Jane Smith and K-9) as well as Captain Jack and what is left of Torchwood, can he hope to foil this foe. But not even the Master can see that the dark guardian is using him to recapture the key to time, and forever imprison not only the current universe, but all parallel universes as well. But the dark guardian's plans are really strings being pulled by the Sith to get Frodo to go the dark side and betray Morpheus before they can get him out of the Matrix and......I really shouldn't do these video marathons so late.
  31. Anonymous 10 January 2009 at 08:17
The ending of "The Next Doctor" especially showed that he closed the TARDIS's door, although, he closed in the usual way, maybe something unusual will happen, maybe the story is about the TARDIS got transferred, stolen, or Lost etc.
  32. Anonymous 10 January 2009 at 10:37
Um.. Mr spoilor man... I think you maybe wrong! And WTF do the sith and Frodo got to do with doctor who??? The first bit could be acccurate. But the rest is bullshit! There is no possible way that one single episode of doctor who could involve so much stuff going on at the same time!!! YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!!!!!!

Been doing some research and yes gallifrey may be involved in the next few specials, Story line that is floating about is that Something happens to the Doctors tardis. Unit develop time travel technology which they Doctor uses sending him back into different places however he somehow finds himself back on Gallifrey where he gets a new tardis. these are just things I've heard including rumours that in 2010 The Doctors Daughter may return and find frozen Timelords but hey don't believe everythign u read on the net but sounds interesting possibilities for the future
  35. Anonymous 15 January 2009 at 18:37
Hello all, I don't know if the Master will be in this special but he is definately going to be in one of the four specials. Also I don't think it will be set on Gallifrey after reading a couple of Dr Who's novels there is no way BBC Cardiff could replicate a convicing Gallifrey. They should definately bring back the Sea Devils. Also heard a rumour Martha will join the Torchwood team, and the Doctor's so called daughter will feature again
  36. Anonymous 16 January 2009 at 17:22
sorry to burst your bubble Anonymous 15 but BBC Cardiff have already brought us a convincing gallifrey, watch the finnaly of series 3 the sound of drums/Last of the Timelords x
  37. Anonymous 16 January 2009 at 21:46
Russel T Davies has revealed that 2 new monsters will appear in the new episode becase of the cybemen flop
  38. Anonymous 18 January 2009 at 15:50
I hope planet of the dead will make up for the disappointment of the xmas episode. not only were there the same enemies, but it wasn't a very good plot. i hope it doesn't involve the ood or anything we've seen before, but zombies would be my guess, as it seems like something they haven't yet done. I have a bad feeling its the daleks (even though they're good monsters they've had their time) because the daleks are 'the most feared'(which i don't believe, but they also kill everything. Russel T davies' scriptwriting is getting boring now (midnight was awful), and he seems to miss out a lot of action and eighty percent of the episode is talking (or in midnights' case, a hundred percent), so I'm looking forward to 2010 when stven moffat will be the head writer, as i think that his episodes are the best - especially blink.
I went to see john barrowman and r t davies at a place near where I live at the literature festival, and russel revealed that Catherine tate was returning in the last special.
  39. Anonymous 19 January 2009 at 20:51
i think it may be the master returning! think about it, everybody thinks he's dead and thanks to the ending 'The Last Of The TimeLords' it is almsot certain that they will be returning the master to the screens soon. And if t not this special he will have to return at some stage which leaves it open for a very good special. another possibility is The Rani because she was another Timelord who caused the Doctor problems and even caused him to regenarate into colin baker. she is a must to come back
  40. Anonymous 19 January 2009 at 23:41
We had Zombies in season 1, I would love to see the return of the Osirians and the mummy robots, they were great. The Return of Sutek would be great and would sort of tie in to the whole planet of the dead thing.
  41. Anonymous 20 January 2009 at 16:32
for Sin 666 Jab the dead planet was the first time we met the daleks on skaro (there home planet) not earth. it was called the dead planet because the two races who lived there had destroyed skaro in a nuclear war
  42. Anonymous 21 January 2009 at 16:25
russtle deffinatly mentions the nimron in a webcast.

why is everyone slating the christmas special. it was funny, it was christmassy and it had my 8yr old son on the edge of his seat.

and david morrisy was excelent. almost wish he was the next doctor.
  43. Anonymous 21 January 2009 at 22:06
i reckon all the dead end up there, and possibly Donna will remember what happened - you know how the Doctor said if she ever remembered him it'd kill her, well i think she remembers and goes to the planet of the dead, just speculation, of course...
  44. Michael Allen 22 January 2009 at 18:36
i think you are all wrong apart from the thing about the master and gelth maybe
  45. Anonymous 23 January 2009 at 15:58
the special episode is coming closer im so excited :)

i think we may see more of riversong and would love to see more of the vasta nerada too the sliveen and daleks making an appearence is a bit old dont think they'll bring them back well not the sliveen

would be cool if it was set in galafrey and maybe have a load of old time lords who dont notice the doctor like hes not there or not meant to be there

ooo maybe see the time war that would be cool

aparantly well so ive heard the doctor wont have his tardis in this episode

maybe see more of the angels and blink ideas

    sooo excited now :P

    friday feeling and all that
  46. Anonymous 29 January 2009 at 19:12
My first thought about the title: "Hmmm. Sounds like a Troghton Story."
Moving on, I would love to see The Brigadier make an appearence. Jenni and martha are both supposed to come back, as well as the Rani is season 5! I just hope that the story isn't thrown under a bus. (bad joke, I know.):(
  47. Anonymous 7 February 2009 at 10:28
i know for a fact: 1 it doesnt involve any enemys that have been in it before. 2 some of it is set in a bus! 3. christina steals from a museum and gets on the bus, followed by the doctor. 4 the bus crashes. 5 the passengers get taken to "the dead planet" by a new alien race, rumors say they are called the forge (not confirmed) 6. the doctor does something to bring the passengers back from the planet. 7 the bus flys 8 U.N.I.T thank the doctor. 9 he gets his tardis back. 10 he doesnt take any companions with him!
  48. Anonymous 7 February 2009 at 10:31
no old enemies will be returning. gallifrey wont be involved. but a big bus will. the doctor, a big bus, and some aliens. sounds fun
  49. Anonymous 9 February 2009 at 15:43
it is fort that they migt be zygons
  50. Anonymous 11 February 2009 at 18:55
No daleks or any common aliens its a new alien race called the trirovore half man, half fly creatures and the doctor teams with two characters called malcolm and christina
  51. Anonymous 11 February 2009 at 19:14
i read on a website, that its going to be about a 'bus ride with a difference'
  52. Anonymous 11 February 2009 at 21:16
I think its something to do with the time war and maybe the Doctor accidently went back in time when the time war happened between the time lords and the daleks and learns the truth about himself or something.
  53. Wraithfyre 14 February 2009 at 07:13
I am hoping everyone can help me, I am looking for a website where I can view old Doctor episodes, and the specials, I live in the USA and can only seem to find them on the sci-Fi channel, any help is appreciated.
  54. Wraithfyre 14 February 2009 at 07:16
I know this is a discussion about Planet of the dead, And I am hoping everyone can help me. I need a good website to view it and to download older Doctor episodes, can anyone please help?
  55. Anonymous 17 February 2009 at 09:57
Hi wraithfyre if your looking for old Doctor who episodes go to bbc.co.uk/Doctorwho and maybe you can download some
  56. Anonymous 24 February 2009 at 03:24
HIGHLY unlikely this will have any "fanwank" in it. RTD wants to have some more original plots in DW. I'd personally like to see Tennant go out against an all new villain.
  57. Anonymous 27 February 2009 at 08:07
i dont care whats in it..(well i do) as long as david tennant is in it.. i absolutly lovvveee him hes been the best doctor EVERR

HE CANT LEAVE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BY DAVID TENNANT YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED $1.5 MILLION DOLLARS AND THEY WERE OFFERING TO DO A MOVIE YOU ARE STUPID BUT THE BEEESSTTTTT
  58. Anonymous 1 March 2009 at 00:09
About a month ago RTD also announced that most of the episode will be set on a bus
  59. Anonymous 1 March 2009 at 01:21
I personally would like to see Rani reappear seeing as how she was only in two episodes or stories whatever. Just the thought of the doctor daughter upsets me considering she wasn't his daughter not really at least and didn't she die? Matt Smith pisses me of being the new doctor and i think they need to bring back Tennant or Eccleston again. A special on the doctors home world would be pointless cause you would want to save that for the final episode of the season.
  60. Anonymous 1 March 2009 at 22:37
Hello im a really big Dr Who fan since it started. what i heard is that their filming the episond planet of the dead in Dubai for the Desert Scene. it says that it is probably placed in Gallifrey or Skaro but dont know for sure yet.
  61. Anonymous 2 March 2009 at 16:13
Wait a second. Surly if that woman from silence in the library, instantly recognised the doctor, then howcome they apparently had a huge history when there are only a few epp.'s left until the 11th doctor comes ?
  62. Anonymous 4 March 2009 at 18:11
I would love it if there is a Special code e.g Bad Wolf, Mr Saxon and have the time war at the end!!
I think that the Doctor will finaly not know how to defeat the ...... (Hopefully some kind of living dead) and the companion (Michelle Ryan) to save the day instead!!
  63. Anonymous 5 March 2009 at 07:18
I heard that there are going to be all new monsters in the special, which is a good idea, because though the daleks and the cyber men are absolutely awesome, I don't think it'd do much good to have them back again so soon.

About Riversong, maybe they bring her in during one of the specials this year, and continue on with her when Matt Smith takes over. When they meet in the library, Riversong might just think that it's a version of the 10th doctor that knows her.

I definately think we'll hear more from The Master, Donna, and Jenny.
Donna made me so sad, especially the way the doctor left. I hope she gets her memory back.
As for jenny, I think the doctor will have to run into her again, and maybe she'll regenerate. I dunno, just speculating.
  64. Anonymous 7 March 2009 at 19:16
Greetings humans I am Davros lord and creater of the Dalek race did you think I perished on The Crucible? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA you all seen Dalek Caan and what does he posses? EMERGENCY TEMPORAL SHIFT I HAVE ONCE AGAIN SURVIVED. And I will crush the doctor on the planet where I cannot die!
  65. Anonymous 11 March 2009 at 02:48
The specials are all really light episodes, so it'll probably be on some random alien planet, having to do with random aliens that no one has ever heard of.
  66. Anonymous 14 March 2009 at 17:21
I just really LOVE David Tennant. Can't wait to see him! It'll be great no matter what happens
  67. Anonymous 15 March 2009 at 13:47
David Tenneant should have been in a movie.
also the they should have a movie called the four doctors
being 8th 9th 11th help the 10th before he regenerates.
technically skaro was dead, its possible davros has temp shift.
    how can timelords survive?
    easy fob-watch the master or
Marnal in Crnicles of Gallifrey he was washed up and straded on earth.
could riversong/donna or even romana or Rani be related? A New tardis could happen, and THE FORGE was in the alternative 8th doctor adventures - gallifrey's oldest enemy the VAMPIRES.
Yours truly Theta Sigma - Snail
  68. Anonymous 15 March 2009 at 17:34
    here's a rumour I heard...
one of the monsters is (possibly) called a tritovore, and it's half man, half fly. It's supposed to be as scary as the daleks/cybermen.
But as I say, these are just rumours I heard
  69. Anonymous 16 March 2009 at 03:08
david was in a movie also the special will be about the doctor going y\to a planet where he will find the truth about gallifray and how it was destroyed
  70. Anonymous 21 March 2009 at 13:16
if I now my Doctor Who specials, chances are that it will be a unheard of planet and new monster/alien.
+ they'll have to have some reference to Prof. River Song some time soon before Matt Smith otherwise her knowing the doctor won't make sense.

I do wish David Tennant Stayed as the Doctor, HE WAS THE BEST!!!!!!!!
  71. Anonymous 22 March 2009 at 15:39
I hope it is the ood, they are cool! Or maybe dragon skeletons!!!
  72. Anonymous 22 March 2009 at 21:01
i LOVE LEE EVENS how will be appearing as a proffeser and i have heard that its a big explosive episode featuring a trip on a bus and lots of hanging and flying away and just to let you all no David Tennnts final speacial will be called the doctors featuring the 5th to the new doctor
  73. Anonymous 23 March 2009 at 14:16
I've heard that in the very last special, donna noble and rose tyler somehow come back and team up.
so any guesses on how that is going to happen?
  74. Nicole 24 March 2009 at 19:30
One thing has me highly confused by way of the regenerations: if I recal correctly, the Doctor only has 13 regenerations in him. Which would translate to three more Doctors. However, if everyone can recall, there was an episode where David Tennant was regenerating and he regenerated as himself. Does that count? In which case, would there only be two more Doctors before Doctor Who is put to rest? What do you guys think?
  75. Anonymous 25 March 2009 at 05:56
I think that, if the BBC are making a whole load of money from Doctor Who, they'll make somethingnup that means the doctor can regenerate some more, so that they can continue with it.
(I hope they do that >.>)
  76. Anonymous 25 March 2009 at 17:36
the doctor could take someone elses body, like the master in keeper of trakan.
  77. Anonymous 26 March 2009 at 17:48
The Doctor should not be destroyed untill I get another episode with the telos cybermen! The Doctor should get another enemy to become a main enemy! If I return I will destroy you all at once!
  78. phil41 26 March 2009 at 19:25
Isn't it possible that the destruction of the Time Lords removed the regeneration limit? Perhaps it was a little like the expectation that Presidents serve only two terms. It's a promise to avoid the exploitation of power.
  79. Anonymous 28 March 2009 at 11:32
i hope the master comes back and hope more daleks and davros comes back.
  80. Anonymous 31 March 2009 at 17:11
i love doctorwho more than anybody in the world i cant wait till planet of the dead and the new doctor it will be so cool im the biggest fan in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!go david tennent and the producers i know evry question you could ask for!!!!! go doctorwho!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my. Trailer is being released tonight. <33
    Excited, much? :D
  82. Anonymous 2 April 2009 at 20:34
there won't be a new tardis because they are giving it a revamp for the next doctor and the trailer is awesome!!!!!!
  83. Aaron 3 April 2009 at 14:52
it may be galifey, becuase he says it has 3 suns, dosent gallifrey have 3? and the sand, didnt he say before that there will hills glistening in the sun in gallifrey?

Anyway it looks frekin awsome, that bug looks a little cheesy, but the sting ray things look awwwsssooommeee
  84. Martin 4 April 2009 at 08:59
the Master is going to be in one of the specials in 2009 or 2010. He might return alive in the planet of the dead because he's dead. The ring might bring a clone of him.
  85. Anonymous 5 April 2009 at 22:44
John Simm has been seen in filming with bernard cribbings for the last special yay and the ood have also been seen in filming for the second special yes!!!!! only 6 days to go!!!!!!!!

This much i know for sure-

Lady Christina DeSouza (Michelle Ryan) is some kind of criminal, do does a jewel heist of sorts, escapes, and ends up on the bus, carrying memebers of UNIT, and, surprise surprise, The Doctor. Everyone gets chatting, yadda yadda yadda, and then the bus gets flung to an unkown planet. And the Swarm getting closer...

This is all anyone can know for sure, but the recent advert shows that the Swarm are some kind of flying, manta-ray like race. There's also this thing with a fly's head and a gun called the Tritovore. This opened up more questions for me. In the book The Gallifrey Chronicles, there was a race called the VORE, who were FLIES. They had unimaginable power, and almost destroyed the world. My guess is they sucked this unknown planet dry, and evolved into the TRITOVORE. Im guessing that the Swarm (from god-knows-where) came to the desolate planet, and got involved with the Tritovore somehow. And the Doctor, UNIT and Lady Christina are stuck in the middle. It's a guess, but i think i may be onto something...

I'm really interested in some further ideas about the rest of the specials, most of all the World War One story, and where it leads...

The Master's gotta make a comeback-the ring contains his DNA, and he can be resurrected- but he needs the Genetic Manipulation machine from The Lazarus Experiment...

Well, i'm out of ideas, but we're gonna find out what happens to UNIT, the Doctor and the mysterious Lady Christina DeSouza(who, i forgot to mention, has 'a mysterious past, and is going to have a major impact on the Doctor!') THIS SATURDAY AT 6:45! Can't wait!

Keep your amazing, imaginative, ingenious minds flowing, guys, and at least consider these mindless rambilings of a 14-year old kid from the south east.

    Thanks for reading!

Wow, Too.Much.Free.Time!, I really think you're onto something there.

I hope there is some mention/reference to Gallifrey in this special.

Oh well, we'll find out soon enough.
Well it'll be another month or so 'till I can see it, being in Aus., but still. Can't wait!

I agree with Too.Much.Free.Time! that these Tritovore sound a lot like the Vore, but given the BBC's tendency to alienate the novels as cannon, I think that these creatures will turn out to be Definitely-not-the-Vore. You would think that they would keep away from stuff like that so that people can decide for themselves, but my guess is that they are low on monster inspiration at the moment.

I hope that Jenny will make a re-appearance before the Doctor regenerates, but I haven't seen much to indicate that this is likely.

I never really liked Professor River Song, and I don't think she will be making a re-appearance, partly because they left the exact nature of the Doctor's relationship with her up to the viewers, and partly because it's implied that their relationship was kind of casual, i.e. he shows up for things like a picnic (She's an archaeologist so I guess too much time traveling would ruin it for her).

About this episode... well the Doctor is obviously separated from his TARDIS, having traveled by bus, Gallifrey while a cool setting is unlikely to be the planet in this episode. The name "Planet of the dead" is likely to be a reflection on how difficult it is to grow things in the native soil, rather then the place where all dead things turn up.
This episode will probably be like Midnight (hopefully not, but then I'm a cynic) where everyone is just trying to survive long enough to get home.
And finally that vore-thing looked a lot more friendly than the flying rays, but I guess I can't really rule any of that stuff out.

Anyone notice that in series two, I think it's the last episode, where Rose thinks back to a planet she visited with the doctor, (though there was not an episode showing them there), that flying around there were those sting-ray creatures, or something that looked like them?

I dunno, just noticed that yesturday. :D

Hey, I'm new here, and I've been reading about everybody's speculations etc. Very clever, and amusing.
I also have a point to make:
Series 3 Episode 2 "The Shakespeare Code". Now although this was a small, discrete episode, it plays a part in The Doctor's future. At the end of the episode we see Queen Elizabeth enter the globe and instantly recognise The Doctor. Therefore, this means Queen Elizabeth has got to appear in one of the next 4 specials before Matt Smith.
    Great Website!!

Hiya everyone, I'd just like to say a big thank you for all of your comments. There has been some fantastic speculation and what a great episode 'Planet of the Dead' turned out to be. The next episode is titled 'The Waters of Mars' and more information will be posted posted here on this site tomorrow along with the episode's trailer. Thanks once again for your comments :)

Anonymous 29, you said: My first thought about the title: "Hmmm. Sounds like a Troghton Story."
Moving on, I would love to see The Brigadier make an appearence. Jenni and martha are both supposed to come back, as well as the Rani is season 5! I just hope that the story isn't thrown under a bus. (bad joke, I know.):(

I must inform you, The Brigadier was in a Sarah Jane Adventures story, I suggest you check it out.

    Dr. John Smith.

Something to say?
