Shrove Tuesday 2009

By Mark
Today, the twenty fourth of February, is Shrove Tuesday which is also commonly known across the world as Pancake Day. On Shrove Tuesday, the tradition is to use up all the remaining eggs, milk and sugar in your house to make pancakes which will help you get prepared for tomorrow, Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday always follows Shrove Tuesday and marks the start of Lent which traditionally lasts for forty days and forty nights. Many people give up a certain type of food or luxury during this time and you can view more information about Lent and its religious symbolism here.
