The BBC have now released the synopsis for the second episode of Doctor Who Series 4, The Fires Of Pompeii. In this episode The Doctor and Donna will visit Pompeii in 79AD, the day before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Here is the synopsis;

The Doctor and Donna travel back into ancient history, in tonight’s episode of Russell T Davies’s Bafta Award-winning time-travelling drama. When they arrive in 79AD, however, they discover psychic powers and beasts of stone running riot in the streets of old Pompeii. The time-travellers face their greatest challenge yet – can established history be changed, or must the Doctor let everyone die?

The Fires Of Pompeii will air on the 12th April and is written by James Moran who wrote the second episode of Torchwood Series 2 "Sleeper". The time that this episode will be shown has not yet been confirmed.
