Doctor Who Martha's Journey Fanvideo

By Mark
Doctor Who Martha’s Journey is my latest fan video. I made it using clips from Doctor Who Series 3 and music composed by Murray Gold from Doctor Who Series Three. The video shows how Martha's adventure was when she first started travelling with The Doctor at the start of Series 3 up to her temporarily leaving at the end of Series 3. Here it is, hope you enjoy;

As this is a video I made, comments would be much appreciated either here, in the cbox or on the Youtube page.

The Mill and Music

By Mark
The Mill’s Official Site has been updated with an amazing new Doctor Who/ Torchwood/ Sarah Jane Adventures Showreel. The Mill work on all the CGI (Computer Generated Image) effects which appear in Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures. Some of their most memorable CGI Effects on Doctor Who are The Werewolf, The Krillitanes and The Beast.
Accompanying this showreel are some incidental scores by Murray Gold which appeared in Doctor Who Series 3 including my favourite piece, the one at the beginning.
The Doctor Who Soundtrack Volume 2 will be released sometime this year in time for Christmas.

Revenge Of The Slitheen Ratings

By Mark
Sarah Jane Adventures "Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 1 managed to receive 1.3 Million viewers, an 11% of the audience share. Sarah Jane Adventures did well in ratings as most CBBC programs get around 0.9 million viewers, so Sarah Jane Adventures received 4 million more viewers. "Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 2 over on the CBBC Channel managed to receive 0.44 Million viewers.
From this information we can tell that most people who watched Sarah Jane Adventures "Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 1 didn't watch the 2nd part on the CBBC Channel. This is probably because not everyone has the CBBC Channel.
What did you think of Sarah Jane Adventures?
Did you watch Part 2 over on the CBBC Channel?

Yasmin Paige, who plays Maria, tells us about meeting other Doctor Who actors:
"I met John Barrowman (Captain Jack). I was well excited. He shook my hand and I went really red!"

K9 & Company DVD Release

By Mark
K9 & Company Video Cover
K9 & Company, A Doctor Who Spin-off which aired for one episode on 28th December 1981 is to be released on DVD sometime next year. K9 & Company starring Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith was intended to run for a series after the pilot "A Girl's Best Friend" however the BBC decided not to run it as a series and leave it as a one off special.
Sarah Jane Smith however does have her own spin-off at the moment which premiered last Monday called "Sarah Jane Adventures".
Here is what Phoenix Film and Television Production Ltd have announced on their website concerning the K9 & Company DVD Release;

Phoenix Film and Television have been commissioned to produce several special feature documentaries for classic Doctor Who releases plus the long awaited "K9 and Company" all for DVD release later this year and early next year respectively.
The content of the extras must remain under wraps for the moment but Phoenix will be producing 9 documentaries in total spanning several releases throughout 2007 and 2008.
"It is a very exciting project!" explains Phoenix head of Production Rohan Latchman, "It's an opportunity to really delve into such a classic TV classic and try and come up with something different." "The new show is so high end and full of spectacular special effects, but classic Doctor Who offered all in involved so many challenges on a weekly basis to keep the show fresh and inventive and I'm really looking forward to being involved in such an exciting project!".

K9 & Company has previously been released on Video and personally I think it's great news that it will get a DVD release too.
I will be buying this DVD, Will you?

Torchwood Series 2 Teaser

By Mark
Peter J Hammond has revealed some information about his upcoming episode for Torchwood Series 2. In an recent interview with the SFX site he said
“I really can’t say a lot but it’s going to be terrifying.”
However after that he revealed some interesting information on the plot , which is a major spoiler. Therefore if you want to see the spoiler highlight the below text.

Peter then went on to say;
"I think one of my favourite Sapphire and Steels was the one with Mr Shape going in and out of photographs. Torchwood takes this a bit further and it's people coming out of moving films from the '20s. There are some lovely 'black and white' people in it."
If this is the plot, I'm sure it will be a fabulous episode.

What do you think of that spoiler? Very Interesting

Sarah Jane Adventures Next Time Trailers

By Mark
Two new Sarah Jane Adventures Next Time Trailers aired yesterday. One of them being a preview of "Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 2 which aired just before the credits of "Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 1. The other being a preview of "Eye Of The Gorgon" Part 1 which aired after "Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 2. Here they are;

"Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 2 Preview

"Eye Of The Gorgon" Part 1 Preview

They are both really exciting trailers, for those of you who haven't seen "Revenge Of The Slitheen" Part 2, I can guarantee you its an excellent episode. I can't wait for "Eye Of The Gorgon", it looks fantastic. I will make my own screencaps to post for these next time trailers sometime this week.

In Torchwood Series 1 Episode 9 "Random Shoes", wasn't that a Gorgon eye that Eugene tried to sell on ebay? If so the Eye Of The Gorgon may be similar looking to the one which was in "Random Shoes".

What do you think of the trailers?
What do you think of my theory on the Gorgon eye?

The Doctor and Donna Visit Pompeii AD 79

By Mark
Picture above was made by me.
The Official BBC Doctor Who Website has released an article containing some exciting information on the Doctor Who Series 4 episode in which The Doctor and Donna go to Rome. In this article we find out that they will arrive in Pompeii in the year AD79 where they will then be faced with a great dilemna. We also find out about some new additions to the cast.
Here is the article from the BBC Doctor Who Site;

The Doctor and his new companion Donna are set to travel back in time to the Roman Empire for the fourth series of Doctor Who.
In one of the most ambitious episodes to date, The Doctor, played by David Tennant and Donna (Catherine Tate) arrive in Pompeii in AD 79, on the eve of the historic eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
The Time Lord and his companion are posed with an immediate dilemma; should they warn the residents of Pompeii of the forthcoming catastrophe or leave them to fend for themselves?
"Arriving in Pompeii marks the start of another exciting adventure for the Doctor and Donna," said Doctor Who's Executive Producer and Head Writer, Russell T Davies. "Donna is stunned to find herself in the midst of history's most famous volcanic eruption. Viewers can expect many more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."
The Thick of It actor Peter Capaldi guest stars as Caecillius. He's joined by Quadrophenia and Rose and Maloney actor Phil Davis as Lucius. Further guest stars include Howards Way and Born and Bred Actress Tracey Childs, who plays Metella.
The filming of the episode took place at Cinecitta studios in Rome, which the Doctor Who team expertly transformed into Pompeii for a week of filming in September of this year.

In addition to this there is also a picture from the filming of the Rome episode to accompany the article. The image in this post was made by me, by trimming the picture down to a close up of Donna and The Doctor. The BBC image which you can use as your desktop wallpaper can be found here.

Sarah Jane's Amazing Adventures

By Mark
Thanks to The Doctor Who Site for the picture above.

I thoroughly enjoyed both Part 1 and 2 of "Revenge Of The Slitheen" tonight. The Mini/Baby Slitheen was what I have to say one of my favourite aliens in Doctor Who and its spin-offs so far. In this post I am basically going to explain how this site is going to work, how its going to deal with the fact of episodes being shown a week early on CBBC. Seeing as not everyone has the CBBCchannel, I am only going to review the episodes after they have being broadcast on BBC1. Therefore leaving the site spoiler-free for non CBBC channel viewers.
The way the reviews are going to work is in the same way as the Doctor Who Episode Reviews. Expect an "Invasion Of The Bane" and "Revenge of the Slitheen" Part 1 episode guide sometime soon.

What did you think of "Revenge Of The Slitheen"?

400th Post: Sarah Jane Smith Special

By Mark
It was my 400th Post, 9 posts ago and I have decided to dedicate this 400th special post to looking at the character of Sarah Jane Smith seeing as Sarah Jane Adventures starts tomorrow. So lets start with an updated profile I have made on Sarah Jane Smith;

Sarah Jane Smith Updated Character Profile

Actress: Elisabeth Sladen
Eye Colour: Brown
Hair Colour: Brown
Sarah Jane Smith, companion to the third and fourth Doctor, now has her own spin-off show called “Sarah Jane Adventures”. Sarah Jane first appeared in Doctor Who way back in 1973 in the Third Doctor’s story “The Time Warrior”. Sarah Jane witnessed the 3rd Doctor regenerate into the 4th Doctor at the end of “Planet of the Spiders”. During her time as The Doctor’s companion she encountered both The Daleks and The Cybermen. She also encountered many other aliens/monsters. The Doctor left in his Tardis without Sarah Jane at the end of “The Hand of Fear”.
In “School Reunion”, Sarah Jane then returned to Doctor Who, meeting The 10th Doctor, Rose and Mickey for one episode. She encountered the Krillitanes in “School Reunion”. Sarah Jane’s robot pet dog was caught in an explosion at the school leaving Sarah Jane upset however at the end of “School Reunion” when The Doctor leaves her she sees K9 again. The Doctor rebuilt K9 for her. Sarah Jane has her own gadget which is much like The Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver, her gadget is the Sonic Lipstick.
Sarah Jane next appears in the Sarah Jane Adventures alongside Maria, Luke and Clyde where she is sure to encounter many other aliens.

Sarah Jane Adventures Wallpaper

I have made my very own Sarah Jane Adventures background also for you all to use if you want. I’m not sure the Dimensions are correct but its still a great image to use for your desktop. Here it is, hope you like it;
See the desktop I made bigger here.
On the subject of wallpapers the BBC Sarah Jane Adventures site have a new wallpaper available for use. It’s of the baby Slitheen ripping out of its human disguise. See the enlarged picture so you can use it for your backgroud here.

Who Won? You Decided

By Mark
For a while there has been a poll on the sidebar of the site.
The Question was Which Is Your Favourite Series 1 Creature/Villain? The options you could choose from were;

The Autons
Nestene Consciousness
Cassandra
Moxx Of Balhoon
Gelth
Slitheen
Space Pig
Dalek
Jagrafess
Reapers
The Empty Child
Gas Mask Zombies
Margaret Slitheen
Trine-e and Zu-Zana
Anne Droid
Davinadroid
Dalek Emperor

The Winner was Davinadroid with 40% of the vote, 22 votes. Coming in second place were the Reapers with 11 votes, 20% of the vote. The Dalek Emperor came in third place with 12% of the vote, 7 votes. With 5 votes and 9% of the vote, The Empty child came in fourth place. The Anne Droid definitely wasn’t the Weakest Link coming in fifth place with 5% of the vote, 3 votes. The Autons came in sixth place with 2 votes, 3% of the vote. The Slitheen, The Daleks, The Gas Mask Zombies and Margaret Slitheen all came in seventh place with 1 vote each, 1% of the vote each. The Nestene Consciousness, Cassandra, Moxx Of Balhoon, Gelth, Space Pig, Jagrafess and Trine-E and Zu-Zana all received no votes, 0% of the vote. This is probably because of the wide range of choice and most people voting Davinadroid.

Here is the Poll Results picture for proof;
Seeing as we never got to see what Davinadroid looked like in Doctor Who, I used pictures of the Big Brother house from Doctor Who Series 1 Episode 12 “Bad Wolf”.
A New poll will be added later today for you to cast your votes. The poll will be a new weekly installment.
All pictures in this post were made by me.

"I love it - it's just like being in the playground."

"I can bang out a tune, and yes I'd love to do a musical. I'm still waiting for the phone call."

Doctor Who Magazine # 387

By Mark
We now have information and the cover for the next issue of Doctor Who Magazine, which hits the shops tomorrow. Doctor Who Magazine # 387 features an interview with Catherine Tate, a sneak peak at Sarah Jane Adventures and an interview with Five Doctors ; David Tennant, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann as they celebrate Big Finish's 100th Doctor Who related CD release.
Here is the synopsis for Doctor Who Magazine Issue 387;

Catherine Tate has revealed her surprise and delight at being invited to reprise her role as Donna for Series Four of Doctor Who.
"When I was asked to do it, I genuinely couldn't believe they'd asked me," she told the mag. "I was having lunch with Julie Gardner and it was the last thing I thought we were going to have a conversation about. She said it, and I nearly... well, I... even now, I just can't believe it. I'm speechless."
Catherine also confesses that she's not quite up to speed with Doctor Who mythology yet. "This is how un-into-it I was before: I didn't know that there was more than one kind of alien; I just thought it was always the Daleks."
Also the new issue, there's an exclusive preview of The Sarah Jane Adventures; Russell T Davies chats about secrets, lies and roller skates, as he answers questions from the Out of the TARDIS tin; the people behind the Doctor Who DVD range talk about future releases; and what happened when the Sixth Doctor arrived on the set of Voyage of the Damned is revealed in Production Notes.
On top of all that, there are interviews with no less than FIVE Doctors as David Tennant, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann celebrate Big Finish's 100th Doctor Who CD release.
Doctor Who Magazine 387 goes on sale on Thursday 20 September.

Personally I think the cover is an excellent design.
I will be purchasing my copy of Doctor Who Magazine # 387 tomorrow, will you?

The Character Of Sarah Jane

By Mark
The BBC Doctor Who Website has extracts of an interview with Russell T Davies discussing the character of Sarah Jane Smith. Discussing Elisabeth Sladen and nods to the past to be featured in Sarah Jane Adventures, here is the article;
Russell T Davies explains Sarah Jane's enduring appeal.
With the launch of series one of The Sarah Jane Adventures almost upon us, Russell T Davies reveals that even though she's been around since 1973, the character of Sarah Jane still holds a few surprises.
"Can you believe it's 34 years since we first saw Sarah Jane Smith on screen?," Executive Producer Russell told us. "And there's still so much to learn about the character. She's got a family now, which means carrying on the Doctor's legacy but having to look after others.
"Of course, the character's longevity is in no small part down to the brilliant Lis Sladen who knows Sarah Jane inside out," he added. "But the whole cast is amazing. And I can promise long-term fans of the show a few cheeky nods to the past."
The Sarah Jane Adventures begins its ten-week BBC One run at 5pm on Monday 24 September 2007. The first story, called Revenge Of The Slitheen, is written by The Shakespeare Code's Gareth Roberts.

6 Days to go till Sarah Jane Adventures starts.
